    sheet 2 a10 = sheet 1 a1 link without copy and paste

    hi peoples,
    my dilemma is i have a sheet with employees and there details, also column with links to there documentation i.e Photo of drivers license so a1 would be Joe blogs a2 would be link to joe's drivers license photo, what i want to do is have in sheet 2 something like sheet2.a2=sheet1.a2 and have sheet2.a2 a click-able link the only way i have been able to do this is to copy and paste or create a new link in sheet 2, any help would be greatly appreciated

    why do you want to do this?
    Just like that, it does not make real sense. I'm not an Excel guru but I think you'll need a VBA macro to do this.

    let me put it slightly different for you sheet 1 is a master sheet it also has links to other pictures like a picture of the employees forklift license sheet 2 would be a sheet showing when the employees forklift license is due to be renewed and would like the link in sheet 2 to be the same as link cell in sheet 1 so that if the cell is changed in sheet 1 it updates thru to sheet 2, i have used this so far in sheet 2 a2 i type =HYPERLINK(Sheet1.A2;"CellText") and it creates the link and the link works if the text in sheet 1 a2 is the URL if the text has a name the link in sheet 1 works still but the link in sheet 2 doesn't

    here is a user defined function that you can use in your sheet2 formula to get the URL.
    Your formula in sheet2 would look like this: You write whatever you want as a description.
