Running count of VLOOKUP searches

Hello All,

I can't seem to find an answer to this one. I have a data set with a 6 digit code in column A and related information in subsequent columns on sheet 1. I have a VLOOKUP that returns all pertanent related information on sheet 2 after typing the 6 digit code in.

There are 16,000 6 digit codes. I would like to record the frequency with which they are searched in my VLOOKUP to be automatically counted in a new column in sheet 1. The catch is I need this to be a continuous count over the life of the document. For example, if I type 123456 into my VLOOKUP today, I want the new column in sheet 1 to return 1 for that item. If I type 123456 again three days from now, I want that cell to now read 2. The ultimate goal is to determine the frequency each 6 digit number is searched over a given timeframe. I've looked into implemementing an auto save feature, but I'd still need the formula capable of keeping a running count.

Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Create a sheet where you store all the codes that were searched. then just use the count to determine the frequency.
