Help with formula using different rows and columns

I have this formula I am trying to paste into my spreadsheet, ex. =80000-SUM(D2,C3). But everytime I paste it in, it shows up =80000-SUM(E2,D3) and then I have to change it back to C3. How do I get the formula to work so that it only uses my Weight Column and Row without having to manually change the formula? I attached a picture that will hopefully help explain better than I have.

when you copy to a different column - it will change the column
to stop that use a $ to fix the Column

    SUM(D2,$C3)

    now it will change to
    SUM(E2,$C3)
