How to lookup and match item and return the size

I'm trying to know which items are standard size and which items are oversize, so i have a sheet with all the items in column A, then i have a report on a another workbook identifying which items are SS and which items are OS, but the problem is that the report says for standard size "Lg-Std-Non-Media" and for oversize "Sm-Oversize" so i need a function should say something like this, if the item in workbook 1 is the same as workbook 2 and the size is "*Std*" then give me back the word "SS" and if the size says "*Oversize" then give me back "OS"

I made a ltl research and i find out that the wildcard asterisk is not working in a if function.

I cannot say if it's "Lg-Std-Non-Media" it should give me back "SS" because it doesn't always start with Lg, sometimes it's Sm... that's why i thought i need the *

Do you need to retain the "Lg" and "Sm" data? If not you could you could make (or be helped to make) a formula to just clean up your raw data and remove those two for an easy solution.

Yes it has to retain, because that report will be changed every time for a new one, so it has to be made with an automatic function.
