How do I pair up numbers in a lottery results list?

I have a list of 6/49 lottery draw results and I have an MS Excel 2007 installed.
Is there a way for me to highlight the cells of numbers I want to pair in that list through Excel?

(that is, I want to pair number "1" with "2" and highlight their cells with the color "red"- and so on and so forth...)
Should I have VBscripts installed to make your suggestions work?

Of course you could do this with some scripting labguage but also conditional formatting would be a good tool for such case.
Select the results (say A2:Fnnn) range and add new conditional formatting rule based on formula:

I also forgot to ask: aside from highlighting the desired cells, how would I be able to tally the frequency of those highlighted numbers?
