Annual employee salary increase - after one full year of service -- formula

    Hello,

My brain has apparently taken a logic holiday. I'm trying to create a formula that gives a specific employee a raise after 12 months of service. For a given position (e.g., "Position A" in the attached example), the headcount will incrementally increase, so I want to be able to evaluate when the headcount increased 13 months prior to the current month and then apply the salary increase (5%, in the attached example).

Thank you for any thoughts and/or help!

Put this in P12 and drag right:
    =P8*$E$3+MIN(D8,P8)*$E$3*$E$4

However, I see some potential flaws in your plan.
First, how do you know the employee that was hired in Feb-14 is the same one in Feb-15? They may have quit in Aug-14 and then you hired another person that same month.
Second, you state they get a 5% raise after their first year. That is what his equation does. It does not give them another 5% after 24 months, and another after 36 months, etc. If that is what you want, then your format will not really support this in a simple formula.
My recommendation would be to have a list of employees with their start (and end) dates, and then a calculated column for their monthly salary, would make things more straightforward.

Thank you, Pauleyb! I appreciate the solution and your comments about potential flaws. Fortunately, I've considered both flaws that you've highlighted. While the first flaw is not relevant for this project, the second flaw is very relevant. I'll need to think more about this issue. Really appreciate the help.
