Can I nest a sumifs formula to to set multiple sum ranges within a single formula

    Hello All

I was wondering if its possible to create a sumifs formula that contains several sum ranges, as well as the multiple criteria

I have attached a sample document, and i was to type the sort of formula i was trying to get it would be like this

=SUMIFS(Sheet1!E:E,Sheet1!$B:$B,Sheet3!$E4,Sheet1!$D:$D,Sheet3!$H4),sumifs(Sheet1!I:I,Sheet1!H:H,Sheet3!F4,Sheet1!D:D,Sheet3!H4) - excel doesnt like this formula

    And to explain

There is a list of names, and the hours they attend at work (Sheet1). What i want to do is , when i enter the name and the date on my summary sheet (Sheet 3), is for excel to extract the data based on the 2 criteria - the date and the name. So if i put a name and a date, it will for example, put the worked hours for that name and date - and then if i put a different date,it will extract the data for that date.

    Is this possible?

    Many Thanks for your time

So, you do already have a lot of data in the format shown in sheet1? And you want to convert it to the form shown on sheet3? In that case, how much data?
I'm leaning more towards a macro solution for this.

Re: Can I nest a sumifs formula to to set multiple sum ranges within a single formula

    Hi there, thanks for replying

Sheet 1 would contain data for around 20 people, which is keyed daily, and then each morning i will update sheet 3 with that info - Sheet 3 will also contain formulas to draw in information from other sources based on the info keyed
The idea being, that sheet3 will be used to provide historical data for the year, and the ability to pivot to show whichever data is being analysed

Its probably not much effort to key it manually, but if there is a quicker way using formulas.....

    Thanks
