Need to fill A with "X" when B is selected - Drop down functions

I just figured out how to make pull-down menus with data validation. I'm working on making a product part number builder / configurator.

So I am putting the questions/prompts and pull downs on sheet 1.

Sheet 2 - 10+ is where I am putting all the variables with a tag at the very top such as "material:".

So I've fiddled with this one: =if(istext(=Sheet5!$A$2:$A$4),TRUE)),"N/A",=Sheet5!$A$2:$A$4) by modifying the formula that created the default pull down menu.

I was trying to modify it based on this tutorial from the newb sticky which seemed the most relevant.
    http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html#IF

I know I failed miserably but I don't know how to fix it or make the argument? or function? formula? read and reference what I'd like it to do correctly.

So any help would be appreciated! I'll try to be clear here.

Cell B6 = a pull down menu with 3 options. The 3 options are on another worksheet, as you can see above.

I want the pull down menu at Cells B8, B10, B12 and B14 to read "N/A" and have their pull-down function disabled and/or greyed out, IF an option under B6 is selected. And conversely, When the primary item for the second product type at B8 is selected, it would only void or N/A cell B6.

I want to learn the rule structure for this kind of if-then.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks for any help.

    To attach a Workbook
(please do not post pictures of worksheets)
    • Click Advanced (next to quick post),
    • Scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments",
    • Click that then select "add files" (top right corner).
    • Click "Select Files" find your file, click "open" click "upload"
    • Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
    • Click "Done" at bottom right to close the Attachment Manager.

I remembered a trick to read past the first few lines on forum rules. Then found how to edit title.

    Excel_Retrofit_Configurator_V1.xlsx

Here is the workbook I am getting to work. Lots I am trying to do with this sheet by programming if-then logic. This post is a request for one piece of the puzzle which will hopefully help me figure out how to do all of the rest.
