SUMIFS Equivalent for Excel 2003 with multiple criteria and range arguments

    Hello everyone,
I have compiled a lot of data on the movements of wildlife in hopes of determining a pattern based upon various criteria such as date, weather, Gender, etc. However, I can not determine a formula that will work in 2003 for my needs. With an example below:
    A B C D
    Date Gender #of Animals Temperature
    9.01 M 2 52
    9.02 F 1 49
    9.03 M 3 59
    9.04 F 2 70

I need a formula that will add the # of Male animals seen between 9.01 (sept 1st) and 9.04. Also, how would I add more criteria? Like say the same total on days that the weather was between 50-60 degrees?

    Thanks.

P.S. I apologize for posting this thread in the Intro Forum, I didn't realize.
