conditional formatting whole rows

I have attached a test report to show my problem. Basically I know how to do conditional formatting to highlight all cells with the word Total in it but I need to highlight all rows that have a cell with the word total in it. Thanks for suggestions in advance.

Re: conditional formatting whole rows

Instead of using the "contains", use the "use Rule" option.

1st, highlight the entire range you want this to apply to

Then use New Rule, and enter...
=SEARCH("Total",$B3,1)
format fill as needed
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

What rule type would I use for this? I cannot find one that matches your directions. Thanks

Re: conditional formatting whole rows

My apologies, I said New Rule, instead of USE Formula

1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to
2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
3. select new rule, select use formula
4. enter =SEARCH("Total",$B3,1)
