Hi,
What do you mean by "if this line is populated, the email address is automatically made into a hyperlink to send mail...". i.e.What do you expect to happen?

what i expect is to use the hyperlink formula in that cell, so i can then edit it so it'll in the email with the subject of whatever i indicate, rather than there just being an email address in the cell
Hi,
But what do you want to do with the email address?
Do you want to generate and send an email when it's selected/clicked? If so you don't necessarily need it to be a hyperlink. You could have a macro run down the list and automatically generate and send emails. You'd need to define what you want to put in the body of the email which I guess is some standard text.
hey.
so i'm looking for the same to be accomplished as this formula does:
=HYPERLINK("mailto:"&VLOOKUP(INDIRECT("'Report Tracker'!I"&MATCH($K$6,'Report Tracker'!$A:$A,0)),Data!$A:$B,2,0)&", "&VLOOKUP(INDIRECT("'Report Tracker'!G"&MATCH($K$6,'Report Tracker'!$A:$A,0)),Data!$A:$B,2,0)&", "&"?subject="&$K$6&" Ready for QA","Send e-mail")
don't necessarily need anything in the body or anything, and i'd prefer not to have any macros in the file..
thanks for spending the time on this...
