    Freezing a Cell Value

    Hi all,

I am creating a timing sheet. I want to be able to capture the current time an action was carried out.

For example, if I type a value in A1 at 19:05:30 then I want B1 to display 19:05:30. If 15 seconds later I type a value in A2 then I want B2 to say 19:05:45. I do not want these times to change and need to be set values.

I have been playing around with =now()-today() but whenever I alter the sheet it will recalculate.

I have thought of using a macro to copy and paste special values but I want to be able to add in multiple of these.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

This will do it, but you also need to enable iterative calculations

To enable iterative calculations, go to Excel options, calculations & enable.

Also, copy the formula down as far as you need. Once you enter anything into the corresponding A cell, the B cell will populate with a non-volatile timestamp.
