Requesting help with a calendar that will auto-populate from a data set

    Hello,

I've found a few threads on this site that have posted helpful solutions to this problem, however I can't seem to figure out how to replicate the results in my own document. For example, I found the file entitled "Demo Calendar.xls" in the below link to be exactly what I wanted, but I couldn't seem to find all of the tabs in the sheet that the formulas were referencing.

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-calendar.html

I've attached my document for review - goal is the end result of the aforementioned "Demo Calendar.xls" where data set will populate in a calendar, with the additional functionality of being able to filter by resources (columns G - AI).

Can someone take a look and help me with the additional tabs and formulas I need to set up? Thank you!

    Hi there,
In Your template file, You have 'Start' & 'Finish' date.
Do You want to use booth dates, or only the Start date?
In calendar sheet, do You want to filter by Resource name, or also other columns?
The resources name are random combination of names, do You want to filter by one name from each string, or combination?
(for example: row4: 'Mer, MR, Des' - filter by one of them, combination or entire string as it is?)
    Regards
    Miroslav R.

Red face Re: Requesting help with a calendar that will auto-populate from a data set

    Thank you for your response!

    - Yes, please include the entire date range with both the start and end dates
    - Please disregard column entitled 'resource names' - I thought I had deleted this. I would like to be able to filter by the individual resource columns (multi-colored column headers with "X" in data set)

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks again for taking a look!

Re: Requesting help with a calendar that will auto-populate from a data set

    Hi there,
    So here it is...
    - DropDown menu for year & month selection
    - Forms - optionbuttons for category selection.

    Mail calendar:
    formula for building calendar days:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

array formula for getting entries that match calenday day & category:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Maybe it can be done shorter, but this is done without any helper columns (which btw are in the calendar You provide with link).

Calendar is build only for 5 entries (matches) per day. If there are more matches, You can see that in smaller calendar on the right of the main one (day & number of matches) - You have to filter that manualy in database.

If You have some general tasks and do not want to display them in calendar, but still want to have them marked in database sheet, You can use any other character than 'X'.

So check that and let me know if this is what You are looking for...

(btw sorry for late response, but I am bussy at work)

You have to replace every semicoma in every formula with coma or wait 2hours and I will send fixed file

...hey... I am not able to replace semicomas without getting an error msg on the formula.
Try it by replacing with Ctrl+H in the calendar sheet. It should work. Also go to Formulas tab, and replace semicoma with coma in all named ranges.

    Hope it will work!
