Question Conditional Formatting Depending on Value of Other Cell

I'm using Excel 2007. Basically I want the user to be able to select an option on sheet 1, then see the cells relevant to their option highlighted on the remaining sheets.

I have a workbook with multiple worksheets. On sheet 1 the user chooses between 3 options in a drop down (A, B or C), and then that value is transferred over to a cell on the subsequent worksheets (hidden down at the bottom). On sheet 2, there are cells that already contain the values from sheet 1 (A, B or C). I want to format the cells that match the value that was chosen on Sheet 1. I know that conditional formatting can't use values from different worksheets, which is why I have it transferred to each subsequent sheet. What I can't figure out is how to tell a set of cells on Sheet 2:

if the value of any cell on sheet 2 matches the value chosen in the cell from sheet 1 (now at the bottom of Sheet 2), format it (change text color, highlight, whatever).

    Make sense? Is this possible?

use a formula in conditional formatting
    and use $

so if the cell is copied to sheet 2 - cell A1000 for example and the range to look at is A1:C200

    then select that range
    and in a formula put

    =A1=$A$1000

    and highlight

    Thanks! I got it!

For those wanting more step-by-step on how to add this in Excel 2007, here's what I did:

Highlight range > Home/Styles/Conditional Formatting > New Rule > Format Only Cells That Contain > Cell Value/Equal To/$Col$Row
