Help - if and vlookup combined function

    Hi guys,

Im just new to the forum and really require some help.

I have two worksheets, one a project details page and the other the costs sheet. In the project details page I have a cell named 'drawdown_no.' which will be changed to whatever drawdown is applicable. Depending on what the drawdown no. is, the cost sheet will then know which column to take the information from for that drawdown month. For example if i change the drawdown number from 2 to 3, I would like Cell F18 equal O18 and not N18. Im prob not being very clear, but for example:

I would like cell F18 to look at 'drawdown_no.' cell on the 'project details' page.
It should then find the same drawdown no. within the row M on the 'Costs Page'. There should only be one true value.
I would then like the column F to equal whatever the contents is of the matching drawdown column is for each row..

ie. I would then like to tell F18 to be equal to whichever column is true:row18

Long winded I know, justr trying to explain properly....

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Please upload a workbook or a representative cut down copy, anonymised if necessary. It is always easier to advise if we can see your request in its context.

Show a before and after situation with manually calculated results, explaining which information is data and which is results, and if it's not blindingly obvious how you have arrived at your results some explanatory notes as well.

Please don't upload pictures - see guidance in forum rules. No one wants to recreate your workbook when you already have it.

Maybe its not actually possible what I want, without adding an additional column to carry out the if or match part??

I don'tt understand the rest of your request since you refer to a ROW (presumably you mean COLUMN) M on a PAGE (presumably you mean a SHEET) called COSTS which isn't there.

Re: Help - if and vlookup combined function

    Richard,

This actually seems to give the correct answer, even though I cannot understand how??
OK, I see how the offset works, but when my drawdown-number is 5 or 6 or 7, how does it know which column to take the information from??

I seem to have the reight answers now, but very very curious....

Thanks a million by the way, much appreciated!!

Ahhh, I see it now, offset b L18, i get it now.
    Brilliant service, thanks very much.

Ignore the other stuff I wanted, I was presuming other formulas were required to arrive at the answer I wanted, but thankfully not due to the offset function.
    Thanks Again!!
