I'd like to learn how to create a formula/function that keeps a running total of precious metals purchases and how to insert a live quote in the worksheet..I'd like to be able to have the portfolio value refresh using the values from the live quote.
I want to be able to enter in purchases (they are not in any order) and have Excel total the amount of silver, gold, etc in Troy Oz. I'm assuming a vlookup would accomplish this???..just having trouble on how to approach this issue.
Excel would have to look through the Metals column and determine what gold, silver, etc..after that it needs to match the corresponding Total Cost for each purchase that is gold, silver, etc
Once this is done, Excel would have to sum up all purchases for silver, gold, etc.
Would inserting a live quote be easier on Windows vs. Mac?
I've attached an example Excel 2011 Mac file. I have additional questions/things I want to learn but this is my priority.
