    Question excel adding formula malfunction

Halfway through writing a spreadsheet, new formulas for adding in excel 2003 stopped working. Whether I write them +v10+x10 or copy from another place in the spreadsheet, it gives me totally wrong answers. I closed restarted Window (7) and it still malfunctions. Help.

Sounds like you may have set calculation to manual.

    Thank you TMS,
I checked the setting and it was on automatic. When I actually switch to manual, the function works, but only manually indeed, it still malfunctions when I try to copy and paste a formula.

    Re: excel adding formula malfunction

In the bottom left hand corner of the Excel window, on the Status Bar where it says "Ready", does it ever say "Calculate"?

Maybe you can post a sample workbook that exhibits the problem?

    Regards, TMS

Thanks TMS, it looks like the ready button fixed it. Unfortunately I don't remember if it said "calculate." It just worked. Hope it will continue working.

    Have a pleasant day,
