    Mode by quarter

    Hi Everybody:

    Is there a way to find the mode in Column A per quarter using dates in Column E? The column E dates are in mm/dd/yyyy format. If somebody gets me started on the first quarter I can figure out the other three. Thanks!

    The modal data I see is in the first column. The modal data will be separated by quarter based upon the dates in the last column. I will want the quarterly output in four separate fields Q1,R1,S1,T1.

    Try an array formula** something like this...

    G1 = quarter start date
    H1 = quarter end date

    =MODE(IF(E1:E100>=G1,IF(E1:E100<=H1,A1:A100)))

    ** array formulas need to be entered using the key
    combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER).
    Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key
    then hit ENTER.
