    Microsoft Excel 2013 on Windows 7, creating cost based on drop down values

    Hi I am need of some assistance and was wondering if anyone can help me. I am creating a spreadsheet for quoting jobs on site and am stuck with a particular part.

    I have a cell containing a drop down list of 5 different types of product, of which each one represents a different cost. I need a formula that will calculate the total cost, based on which type of product is chosen, and how many of these will be purchased.

    For example;

    Product A = £5.00 Product B = £10.00 Product C = £15.00 Product D = £20.00 Product E = £25.00

    If someone wishes to purchase 7 of Product B, I need the formula to see that I have selected Product B from my drop down list, and that it needs to then times the value of this product (£10.00) by the number of these they wish to purchase (7). The number of products selected is input into a separate cell.

    Can anyone assist?Quote Calculator.png

    Thank you in advance.Quote Calculator.png

    Use =Vlookup(AE,AA3:Ab7,2,0) in Af3 assuming that you are Dorpdown is in AE.

    Re: Microsoft Excel 2013 on Windows 7, creating cost based on drop down values

    Thank you for the quick reply,

    That has worked to an extent, however it is only showing the price for 1 unit, when I am typing in a quantity of more than 1 it still shows the price for 1 unit. For example, I have typed in 10 into the Total Square Meters box, but it still shows the price for just 1. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    Thank you very much.

    Attach a sample workbook not an image. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

    Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

    Assuming the price in col. N are for one unit, then try this..... (Assuming because you didn't show us the desired output)
