I need a zero in my cell rather than xxx after my calculation

    Hi,

I am trying to create a formula. I have a value in a cell that I have created by subtracting one time (hours / minutes) from a set time. For example contracted hours 60:00 is the set time and used hours is taken away from this. The problem I have is that if the time I am taking away is more than the set time I get xxxx value. If the time I am taking away is less than the set time I get the value I want. I need to have zero displayed the formula displays xxxx.

This sounds confusing and I probably have not explained it well but any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Re: Help with formula

you will need to change your title as per the rules of the forum
    see here http://www.excelforum.com/forum-rule...rum-rules.html

    1. Use concise, accurate thread titles. Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change the title of the thread, click EDIT on the original post, then click the Go Advanced button, then change the title. If two or more days have passed, the EDIT button will not appear, and you need to ask a moderator to change the title.
i can then assist with the formula you need to show 0 instead of a negative value in time

try using replacing your formula with

    =MAX(0, your formula)
