    Conditional formatting in pivot table

    Hi All,

I need your help to create conditional formatting in pivot table when it meets below condition.

    1) Highlight in green color when the Oppurtunity Section in col B and Parent sector in columns F till AH match.

    2) It should highlight color when the data in column are expanded.

Attached is the example I tried. But the conditional formatting doesn't work when the rows are expanded.

Please see attached and help to find solution.

    Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi vijanand1279,

Have you tried using this option (pointed out by a red arrow) rather than a defined area? The insert image function doesn't appear to be working so I've pasted it into a workbook.

    Hope this helps?

I tried that, but when the oppurtunity sector is expanded the conditional formatting doesn't works.
For example. After selecting Option 2 pointed in red, later expand the + symbol in B5. It only highlights the first occurance....
    Please help.

Try expanding and see if this is the formatting that you had in mind.

Yes this works even when the data is expanded. However is it possible to color different if the X and Y are not matching. For eg. There are some values in row 7, it should highlight in green color only when X & Y I.e CIP: CONSUMER PRODUCTS and CIP: CONSUMER PRODUCTS matches. On the same row other values on J7, K7...must be in different color.

    Could you assist with this.

    Regards,
    Vijay

I.e. you want separate formats to apply to each intersection in your table: For example where CIP: CONSUMER PRODUCTS and CIP: CONSUMER PRODUCTS intersects?

In that case I see no other way to do that but to create a separate rule with ranges specific to each intersection in the 'Applies to' field of the 'Conditional Formatting Rules Manager'... an enormous undertaking. If Pivot Tables have some feature that will accommodate this I am not aware of them.

    Sorry I couldn't help.
