    Adding a date to a calculation

    Hi- hope someone can help me with this one

    I run a small weather station and record my data onto spreadsheets. I have worked out how to find the Maximum Temperature per month and this value is placed on the spreadsheet. In another column I now want to add in the date this occurred, in simple term eg 6th or 15th etc

    I use the simple formula of =MAX(I5:I34) to find the value, but would like some help on working out the date this occurred to enter into a cell

    I have entered a small clip of the sheet I am working on

    many thanks

    Please post a sample sheet. It's probably something like =INDEX(date_range,match(max(I5:I34),temperature_range,0))

    Perhaps =INDEX($A$5:$A$34,MATCH(MAX($I$5:$I$34),$I$5:$I$34,0))

    Re: Adding a date to a calculation

    Thanks for the replies -

    This is nearly right - however it inserts 10th Jan into the cell - i just need "10th" or the correct date , on this example it would be the 10th September - any further suggestion as I feel it must be very close

    Re: Adding a date to a calculation

    You can custom format the formula cells as dd. If you are trying to get 1st, 2nd, 3rd.......10th and so on, it will be pretty complex situation to deal with. You will need another formula to convert these dates to get the desired output.
