I have bank statement export that has descriptions in a field that are all very different. Relating to these is a field which shows the cost attributed to each of the descriptions.
I need to categorise the costs into supplier groups for a small business (cafe).
I can use the sumif, sumifs, and vlookup functions competently as well as the find and search functions, but I am having trouble combining the two, given the first three relate to arrays and the last two relate to single cells.
I would like to develop a function that will search for values with the string of the description field, in an array and sum the relating values that match that search.
I have attached an example of the sheet, that shows what I want to achieve.
