Picture Not Displaying when using index/match function

    Hi All,

I'm trying to create a document in which you pick an option from one dropdown and then the second drop down and picture will pre-populate depending on the first drop down option.

The thing is that everything seems to be okay, but when i try to label the picture as =Picture it keeps saying "Reference Is Not Valid"

Any tips on what I mite be doing wrong? I'm currently using Excel 2010 and found this example on youtube but cannot seem to replicate it.

Overall, I'm trying to create a Excel worksheet with this same concept only using 50-100 pictures.

Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

I was able to upload your zip file AND open the workbook without any problems.

However, I do not believe that you can do what you want with index/match. However, take a look at the attached, it may help you in the right direction

Re: Picture Not Displaying when using index/match function

    Thanks.

I have viewed this file but this is too confusing for me to follow...I'm not sure of the formulas that are used in this file... so i cant really copy it off

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEM0pp5SjMU --> this is the youtube video i used. i just can't seem to get the last part to work!

Any help or maybe another simpler way?? If i have a file with the breakdown of how its done then i can try to recreate it using my own pictures and lists.

    Thanks

Re: Picture Not Displaying when using index/match function

    Hi Noobie,

Here's the file if you still need it!

I copied one picture (no matter what picture) and pasted as Linked Picture
With Index you select the three cells with the pictures (the cells, not the pictures)
With Match --> (Cell with the drop down list, Three cells with product names, 0)
Last thing to do is select the picture (not the cell) you want to change, and in the formula bar type: =Picture
(in this case Picture is the name you defined with the Index/Match formula)

    Regards

Re: Picture Not Displaying when using index/match function

    Hello friends,

I have a product list in a workbook. The coloumns are product name, price and image.
And I have another workbook that I search for any product. I can get the product name and price from here. But I can't get the image.

Doesn't excel support getting images from another workbook?

    Thanks for reply.
