    Display a dash instead of a 0

So, as the title says, I'm trying to make the cell display a dash ( "-" ) instead of a 0. I wrote this formula on the H6 cell, =IF(H7+H8+H9=0; "-";H7+H8+H9). and it works just fine, the problem is, I want the I6 cell to make the sum of the H6 and the G6 cell, and I get an error because it cant sum dashes. What im trying to ask is, is there anyway I can make the cell show a dash but keep it's value a 0 ?

Set the format to Accounting and set the display to none. On the ribbon, click on Home tab. Click on the number dropdown in the format section.

In I6 don't add G6 and H6 like =G6+H6, rather you can try the SUM formula to ignore text values in the range like the below one.....

I dont have any format menu, or at least I can't find it, here is what the ribbon looks like, http://excelsemipro.com/wp-content/u...-Tab-Split.png . Is there no other way of doing it without using the accounting format?

See where it says 'General' on the right side? That's the cell formatting. Click on that to get the drop down list and then select 'Accounting'.

    Can't see it.

All I see is the "placeholder" with the "X" in the upper left corner.

What has changed recently that is causing this?
