    If and Vlookup combination?

    good afternoon everyone,

everyones been helpful before so heres my best attempt to explain this. Please see the example below
    Well Well Event Date Status
    100122106025W4 02 9/28/1998 Suspended
    102010804218W4 02 8/31/2014 Producing
    100111506123W4 00 2/20/2006 Suspended
    100110306223W4 00 2/28/1998 Suspended
    100110306223W4 02 2/28/2006 Suspended
    100030306223W4 00 5/3/2005 Suspended
    100051506123W4 00 4/19/2001 Suspended
    100051506123W4 02 12/16/2013 Suspended
    100150205917W4 00 1/31/2008 Producing
    100150205917W4 02 3/24/1998 Suspended

if you notice above a few of the well numbers are identical (multiple well events). I would like a forumula that would be able to recongnize if their is an identical well, and which event from the well is most recent and its corresponding status. For example well 100110306223W4 second event (02) is most recent and its status is suspended. I would even be so happy with the first part of the formula,

    thanks,

    Jon

Ha, I suppose I wasnt as clear as needed.
Can you post an excel workbook with sample data AND a proposed solution laid out? For the solution you can mock up something without formulas but give us a few exmples of exactly what you want.

The ones will a single event are easy. The multi event wells I want the most current status. As stated early if there are multi events to a well I would like the most recent one to be used to get a status. the bottom table is how I would like the results to look,

    thanks,

    Lorenzo
