Can cell reference inside formula be derived from another cell?

    Is this possible?

I want the cell reference inside my formula to be derived from another cell. In this very dumbed down example, if I type a G into the above cell, I want the reference F3 in the formula to be automatically changed to G3.

This question stems from a spreadsheet I have, where I have a bunch of GETPIVOTDATA formulas that, of course, reference pivot tables. And I want to easily change which pivot tables the formulas are looking at, by changing one cell.

Hi. Your png files haven't loaded. In any event, they're not much use. Can you post an Excel sheet, showing clearly what you want?

For your simple example you could use INDIRECT.

Norie, could you see the PNGs? I think there may be "something up" with my PC, as I can't get the canned replies to work either....

I don't see the button for attaching files on my reply here. But I do see the button on brand new threads that I start... so I guess I have to start a new thread?

Woo Hooo!!!! I can see it... However, you need to point me towards the cells where you want the formula changed...

IE 11, and the canned replies were fine a couple of days ago. I (or "she who must be obeyed") may have mashed some keys randomly to cause a problem, but I don't know what they were...
