Need help: Counting average salary of 600 employees

    Greetings masterminds!

I work as health & safety rep. in my company. One of my jobs is to check all the salary information of 600 employees that they're what they're suppose to be. But now... I ran into a dead end.

See, in excel I have my information sheet of all the salaries (im using Excel 2013 btw.), and I need to count the average salary of all the employees, I need to count the average salary of males, average salary of females and the average salary from every "salary group" and the average of every male and female employee from those groups.

What kind of functions can I use to count the average in multiple cells? And especially what kind of function do I need to count the female salaries and the male salaries average?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Since you want to average if some condition(s) happen, so you will need function averageif() or averageifs()

Hi Welcome to the forum ,

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

    Hi

You will need to use Sumif and Countif in your formula you would for example Sum the Salary if Gender is Male and divide by the count gender if gender male this will give you your average salary for males you can do this for obviously female and gender groups

for the other part you will need Sumifs and Countifs these let you sum by multiple criteria and count by multiple criteria.

    Alternatively there is Averageif(s)

Hope this helps if you need a hand putting the formulas together attach an example sheet of your data and i can help

    Regards
