Question Asking how to use a formula to increase rates in a worksheet by 10%

    Hello.

I have just joined here to see if anyone can help me to complete a project I need to do. I have several Excel worksheets with weights along the top column headers (10 columns) and destination cities along the left side column (50 rows). I have attached an example. The cells contain the whole dollar amounts for each weight category going to each destination. I need to increase every one of the rates in each cell by 10%, than have those new amounts rounded up to the next whole dollar amount.

I know this can be done by applying one or two formulas to the worksheet, because I had another person do it for me once (I've lost track of him, otherwise I'd ask him) but I have no idea how to do it, I have never learned how to use formulas in Excel, and am not very sharp with mathematical stuff.

If anyone here can tell me how to accomplish this, I would be very grateful. You can reply here, or best would be to email me.

    Thank you.

I think you attached the wrong document (a Word doc). In any case, in an empty cell, enter 1.10 and then copy

Next select the range of data that you want changed by 10 percent higher, i.e. A2:M30
right click and Paste Special>"Multiply> "OK"
That will multiply all those cells by 10%.

Sure. Type 1.1 into one of the cells and copy it (ctrl+C). Then select the cells you want to increase by 10%. Right click and select 'Paste Special' and click on the circle that cells "Multiply" under the Operations heading. That will increase the cells you selected by 10%.

Then you can use the =ROUNDUP function to round up to the nearest whole dollar.

For your second part, I cannot see how big the range is or complex or how the cells are currently formatted. If they are already formatted to whole numbers then they will automatically round to nearest whole number/dollar. If you want them displayed to 2 digits ($54.00) but rounded to whole numbers, and you don't want to go through the trouble of placing formulas elsewhere (a simple =ROUND(A1,0)) then there is a way to get your answer using "Precision as displayed." Let us know.

To ChemistB and hoyasaxa215, I thank you both very much. With the information you have provided, I was able to accomplish my task. The numbers were already whole numbers, so for the most part, they got rounded up (it looks like some may have been rounded down, but that is OK).

Thank you again, I truly appreciate it.
