    Pasting Value Only

    Hello all,

So here's my issue: at work we have a online data base to track all of our records for testing. We then export that data to create charts and perform statistics.

I'm having one problem when a type of value is exported. One of the values are exported as the date it was submitted.
Example: 3/24/2014 8:16:35 AM. I want to just display the month that it was exported. So in that case, Mar or March. I can do this by custom formatting the cell. However, when I do this, the formula bar still shows the entire date and time (shows 3/24/2014 8:16:35 AM instead of just Mar or March). I need the formula bar to change to Mar or March in order to produce the graphs I want. I thought there was a way to do this by copying the values and "paste values only" or what not but I have yet to come up with a solution. I cannot manually type in the month after each data point because that is simply too much work.

Thus far I'm thinking that the only way to fix this is to alter they way that we export our data but I'm open to seeing what any of you have to say.

    Thanks!

One option is to add a new column and use:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Then copy, paste special, values back over the original and delete the helper column.
