Lookup a formula & calulate as formula instead of returning text

    Hi,

I have two worksheets and I want to be able to return a formula in a cell of sheet1 based on a lookup table in sheet 2.

For example, sheet 1 in this format below, I want to be able to have some sort of formula in cell E2 that will bring back a formula based on certain criteria from sheet2. I then want this formula to calculate based off the values in sheet1. the formula can be different based on specific criteria. At the moment I am using a vlookup, however it just returns the formula as text.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

See attached for an example of what I am looking to do.

A nested if statement is not feasible due to the number of possible selections.
The formulas I want to return is more complex than the one I have included as an example.

I want to populate the cells with the formula so that the formula can then calculate in Sheet2.

Not enough information I'm afraid. I can't see what answer you expect for each cell and therefore can't come up with a formula to deliver it...

So, what answers do you expect in each cell (and why).

Are the formulas shown in Sheet1 all consistent (assuming Sheet2!$H$6 changes to H7, H8, etc. accordingly)? If so, then the following in Sheet2!I6 should work:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
And then just copy the formula down.

If the formulas are going to be very different from just " Sheet2!H6 * Sheet1!H3 ", then... VBA coding might be needed.

ETA: Nevermind, you already said the formulas will be more complex. But would they be varied?
