Formula Adjust. Need =IF"" data to remain once entered when =IF"" changes.

    Hello all,

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I am creating a workbook for managerial purposes at work and need help adjusting a formula.

I have created the workbook to look/function as simply as possible and if possible, would like to keep the structure as is. My question is, how can I have a linkable cell in a formula, where the data set it produces remains once the text in the linkable cell is changed?

Ex.. I am attempting to allow employees to place a given month within a linkable cell. This =IF"" then populates the data from Report Value divided by Goal in the correlating column.

My problem is once I change the month in the linkable cell I lose the data within the column of the previous month.

Is there a way to adjust this formula so that the data from any given month remains in it's column once the =IF"" text in the linkable cell is changed so as to input data for the next month.

(( I understand that the simple fix would be to create a Report Value divided by Goal for each month column and eliminate the =IF"" linkable cell, but I would like to keep the workbook as clean and simple as possible))

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi, welcome to the forum

You dont provide any sample data, just a template Can you add some data to that, showing the various periods you want to show?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Re: Formula Adjust. Need =IF"" data to remain once entered when =IF"" changes.

    Happy New Year!

Here is some data, or at least a run down of what I am attempting to accomplish.

Within the cell L9 I have this formula.. =IF(L2="JANUARY",G9/I9,"")
This formula is repeated for cells L12, L15, L18 etc.. with the corresponding G/I data set.

The destination column "L" is determined by the =IF"" text in cell L2..

I am attempting to allow an employee to enter a data set based on a given month, then come back the next month and repeat the process entering the current month into cell L2..

My issue is, once JANUARY, or FEBRUARY is removed from cell L2 (changing the linkable cell) the data from that month disappears..

How can I adjust =IF(L2="JANUARY",G9/I9,"") so that on the next month, in this case FEBRUARY, the data entered in L12, L15, L18 etc.. stays and the new data lands in M9, M12, M15 etc..

    Thanks for any help!

    Eddie
