Average every other 24cells from different worksheet

Hi All,

I would like to average every 24 cells with my data starting in S17 onward.

These threads (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-form...ml#post3319092 http://www.excelforum.com/excel-form...-10-cells.html) show what I want to do but when I try to modify the formula for my data, it doesn't give me all the right answers.

=AVERAGE(OFFSET($S$17,(ROW()-ROW($AP$1))*24,,24,))

That is the formula I am trying to use. In cell AP1 the answer matches when I manually average S17:S40, but cell AP2 would have a different answer to average S41:S65.

I have also tried other formulas I found online but I keep getting different answers.

Hi, and welcome to the forum,

Upload your particular workbook and manually add a sample of the results you expect to see. Clearly tell us which cells are data and which are results. There's no point working with someone else's data.

I'm not sure how to upload a whole workbook so I'm uploading a screenshot of my data.

Column S has my data. Column AP is where I want the result of averaging every 24 cell from column S (starting from Row S17).

In AP15, I have the formula that I tried to modify from the other posts.

In column AQ, I have the results from manually averaging every 24 cell. The formula I used is seen in column AS.

I can't seem to get the formula to match the answers from manually averaging every 24 cells.

Please upload a sample of your workbook, not a picture of your data. Pictures are pretty much impossible to edit, and no-one wants to re-type your data for you
Also, not all members can upload picture files (Company firewalls and stuff)

Your workbook should show a small desensitized example of the data you are working with and a manual mockup of the expected results.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Here's my attempt to upload my worksheet:

My data is still in column S. Results from manually adding every 24 cells are in column AS which does not match the results from the formula entered in column AP.
