Help with variables

Hi,

I am trying to work out away of showing the results of what one number would say if a differnt number was entered into a cell, I know about the what if button, but is it possible to use this in a forumla.

I want to put the function in E23, and I'd like it to show what would happen to B19 if D23 was in F2.

Posting a workbook instead of an image makes it easier for others to work with your data. To do this, Go Advanced --> Manage Attachments to upload a sample file.

The real file has sensitive information I have attached a mock up though that is the data and sums minus this information.


The real file is using y=mx+c however so the the forumla is something similar too =Calculator M2'!F84*Calculator!$D$2+'Calculator M2'!F83

See if this could work for you. Since you had raw data values in your B column, Excel would not be able to dynamically adjust for changes in the Square footage since you had already done that in the cost column. Therefore, I pulled out the cost multiplier that is applied to the square footage value. This allows you to see a "what if" scenario in the cells requested.

Take a look at the attached workbook, hopefully that will make more sense.
