Separate number of days in month into two payroll periods

If I have the days of the month in Cell F2 is it possible to have excel divide that time into two separate payroll dates? For example: could excel auto populate E6 with day one (1/1/15) and F6 with last day of payroll (either 15th or last day of month)?

    thank you

    Hi,

Almost certainly but you'll need to upload your workbook so that we can understand your layout. It's not clear what you mean by having days of the month in a single cell. Upload the workbook and manually add the results you expect to see in E6 & F6

Re: Separate number of days in month into two payroll periods

I appreciate that but I've figured out how to make it work. I just moved my drop down menu to another section of the workbook to make all the functions work. Let me ask you, is it possible to enter a number in a cell and have that same cell return a different number based on a function? I have cells labled "units allotted" and want users to enter a number then have excel calculate what that number would be based on number of days in the month/payroll. So if I entered '25' in B12 I want excel to divide that number by N2 (number days in the month) then multiple that by F7 (number of days in the payroll). I may be trying to do to much

I get a circular reference warning when I try that formula.

Because you are referencing the same cell that you are trying to put the formula in (B12). Try placing the formula in another cell, it worked for me that way.
