help with calculating averages and counts for specific people in a list

    Hello,

I can't wrap my head around Vlookup, and I'm wondering if that's what I need with this particular spreadsheet. It's going to be used to track calls people take. Column B will list the people's names, and that will pull the names from another worksheet. I would love for Column C to show the average score per person, and for Column D to show the number of calls per person. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

Re: I'm stumped. Maybe this is a Vlookup?

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

This is do-able. However, you've only given us half the information needed. The other worksheet is needed, too, so that we can see how the data there are organised.

OK, I think I've uploaded the second one now. It's the bigger of the two. The "score" section will be manually entered. In the example I've uploaded, one person has two scores and one person has one. Can we count the number of calls scored and average the scores for each person?

I don't see the second. If it is too big, it won't upload. Either zip it or remove enough data/spare sheets to bring the size down.

Still not there. Where are the calls that you want us to count? Where are the scores you want us to average?

Re: help with calculating averages and counts for specific people in a list

I just opened it Glenn, and I'm seeing them. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. What I'm seeing shows that John Smith had two calls (50% and 75%) and Candace Arlight had one call (80%). So I'm hoping that column C could somehow show the average score of 62.5 for John and 80% for Candace, and then column D would show 2 calls for John and 1 for Candace. Are you still not seeing it? If not maybe I'll just repost.

    In C4 copied down

    =IFERROR(AVERAGEIF($B$4:$B$130, B4,$E$4:$E$130),"")

    In D4 copied down

    =COUNTIF($B$4:$B$130, B4)
    Does that work for you?

Amazing, thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for, but I just couldn't get it. I'm in awe of what you people can do, honestly! Thanks again!
