    Formula to compare two columns and spit back data from third.

    I looking to compare data on two sheets, the student's ID number and spit back their homeroom.

    I would probably concatenate columns A&B on both tabs then use vlookup to keep things simple.

    I did that and am still getting the #REF! error:

    =VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!A:A,3,TRUE)

    I edited it to this: =VLOOKUP(B2,Sheet2!A1:C778,3,FALSE)
    but now get the #N/A error

    Can you post sample data?

    Wait, is the "Number" unique for each person? If so you can simply do the vlookup off of that.

    in cell d2 of sheet 1 (assuming sheet 1 is on the left):

    Right, so that is why people make SAMPLE data with fake names and such. :D
