Look up Functions using Index and Match

    Hi everybody,

Its my first post so bare with me with regards to explaining my issue (excel virgin). See attached file, I'm trying to create a dynamic matrice report using index and match functions on multiple criteria with same values but i am struggling to produce the competency ratings, the formula spits out the first number it finds in the column.

Re: Look up Functions using Index and Match

Hi and welcome to the forum,

    See attached example.
    1. I would get rid of all those multiple rows/column for each subject/person. This makes formulas much more complex.
    2. Remove all merged cell - this is a big no-no in Excel
    3. Use conditionnal formatting with icons to show the training level (if from 1 to 4 only)

Re: Look up Functions using Index and Match

What I need to be able to do:
I will be doing a lot of data entry, I am creating drop down lists to reduce typos. I hope this is the best way to go about this. See attached file.
    What I’ve done so far
I’m using the offset function to dictate my drop down lists; however I’m struggling to adapt formula across multiple sheets. I would
also like my worksheets (word, Excel, powerpoint, etc.)to be dynamic. The “training data” worksheet is working with the data from
the “raw data” worksheet . I hope if have explained myself correctly.
