    Validation of drop down menus

    Hi All,

I've been tasked by my MD to create a simple (relatively) to use sheet that can easily calculate true stock quantity and as such current value of stock holdings.

We have systems in place to check the value of finished stock, but not work in progress. This is to ensure we have a faster solution than manually writing this down every time to calculate year end (End of March)

I've attached a sheet below with the base information

Sheet 1 will be the form my MD uses to add up stock value.
Sheet 2 has information for validation of drop down boxes & base codes
Sheet 3 has pallet quantities and cost per unit (To be set properly once we have the formulas correct)
Sheet 4 will be every conceivable combination of coatings, however I cannot progress until I know how to validate the prior information.

Here is my question to start:

Is there a way to filter the drop down Menu's, so that if I was to Select "Saucepan", the next selections I can make are only ever valid?

Please see the attached for reference.

    The attachment doesn't open.

What you're trying to do is "dependent data validation".
Have a look at the link below for a guide on how to manage it.

Re: Validation of drop down menus

    Thanks Buoy,

So I'm guess I just need a list for every combination of Saucepan Gauge, coating etc on each list.

That may explain it, I'll go through it and make sure it works, if not I'll refer back.

Thank you for the heads up though, it's been a long time since anything other than simple maths has been used for our purposes, so I couldn't recall hows back to proceed.
