    Dependent Dropdowns

    Hi there,

I have a huge dataset which is basically a list of categories and sub categories. I am trying to create a form in which the user can select the appropriate categories - the content in each dropdown menu needs to change depending on the item selected in the preceding dropdown. I'm not sure how to do this - can someone help? I've attached a sample workbook - the category set is on the Categories tab and the Form (where the dropdowns are) is on the Form tab.

    sample workbook - categories.xlsx

    Thanks

Hi, I think this a bit complicated for me and my users...is there an alternative that avoids macros?

    Thanks

    Re: Dependent Dropdowns

    Hi ea,

Look for "Cascading" instead of "Dependent" and you find other non-vba methods...

These use named ranges that are a lot easier than VBA to deal with.

Thanks Marvin, is there any way I can use this function without changing the layout of my data? I have a HUGE dataset.

    Thanks
