Trying to use a countif for a row, if the first column contains a certain text.

Hi,
I am a new poster, so I apologize if this has been discussed earlier (however I could not find related items when doing a forum search). My problem is that I am making a staff schedule and many of my employees changes "lines" frequently. I want to track the amount of shift that every employees works. I would like to find a formula that can search my schedule for a specific name (actually using a wildcard portion of the name) identify the row that belongs to the staff member and then performs a countif over that range for "E". I have included a two month fake schedule to show my dilema. test.xlsx.

Hi brute force and welcome to the forum.

There must be an easier way but this one works for now.
