    Custom Formatting. Excel 2013

    Hello,

    container number auto formatting.

    the format I receive: FSCU5555558

    the format I want excel to automatically apply is: FSCU 55555-8

    formatting is always the same: 4 letters (space) 6 numbers(dash)1 number.

    need a way I can copy the format I receive and paste in another workbook/column and have excel to automatically format de sequence as I need it.

    any ideas?

    I've googled custom formatting but cant find what I need.

    Try
    =REPLACE(REPLACE(A1,11,0,"-"),5,0," ")

    A1 contains the original string.

    You can try =left(a1,4)&" "&mid(a1,5,6)&"-"&right(a1,1)
