Question ISBLANK therefore go to next cell

In excel I am trying to write a formula to give me the value of I4 but if I4 is blank give me the value of H4, but if H4 is blank give me the value of G4. Please help, it's making me crazy. I am looking to find the last date that was given in a cell (aka I4 or earlier).

    hi, welcome to the forum

If you are using real dates (and not text looking like dates), and IF the dates will always be greater as you move to the right in the row, then perhaps this...

    =max(G4:I4)
    format as date
