    mm/dd/yyyy to yyyy/mm/dd

    Hi,

not sure if I asked this before or it's in the archive forum but how can we change MM/DD/YYYY to YYYY/MM/DD in excel

In cell A1, it contain 01/30/2015

I tried to change via Format Cells --> Number --> Customs --> change to YYYY/MM/DD but no changes

If it's 30/01/2015, then yes, in the Customs, change to YYYY/MM/DD will work perfectly.

Appreciate all the Excel professors here.

    Thanks

    Re: mm/dd/yyyy to yyyy/mm/dd

Only way I know is to convert the cell to: 30/01/2015
    =DATE(RIGHT(A1;4);LEFT(A1;2);RIGHT(LEFT(A1;5);2))
after this you can just change the date format

But there must be an easier solution

it seems you have text (not date in excel sense) there.

Mark all column with such dates, click text to columns (in cata chart) use separated, no separators, in next step mark this column as date in MDY (as it is now) format and do the text-to columns.

Now there are dates, so you can change format by format cells->....
