Lock cells with formula to prevent manual data entry into those cells.

I`m trying to lock cells with formulas (so they only update when changes are made to other cells they refer to) and not if data is manually entered into them.

However excel keeps telling me to "protect" the worksheet first, otherwise cells won`t lock, but when I do this I can`t make changes to any of the cells in other columns.

columns D,F,G, and H in this sample need to be locked from manually typing in changes.

How would I do this?

Highlight the columns you want to lock. Right click format cells>protection>lock
Highlight the columns you do not want lock. Same procedure, but uncheck lock.

Review>Protect worksheet and unselect "locked cells". Only unlocked cells should be checked.
