Vlookup Indirect function working for Apple Numbers and Google Docs but not Excel

I am having a simple translation problem with excel. I have made a calculator in Apple Numbers but when I export an csv excel file the function stops working and so too do the dropdowns. I will be able to figure out how to make dropdowns but its my basic problem with the function that i will need help with.

Basically I have three kinds of safari accommodation that range in price according to the number of people . i have made a calculator that with drop downs allows users to choose the kind of accommodation. The vlookup is then supposed to use a second dropdown that gives number-of-people-options to look up the price from a table. I managed to get the function to work in google docs also using a slightly different dialect but when i output the file from google docs it also does not play nice with excel. Basically the function is in the first cell of the results sheet.

Here is what the calculator looks like in Apple Numbers:

And here is the calculator working on google docs:

If someone can offer me a clue for how to speak excel I would be most grateful. Thanks, Jamie in Kenya

I have attached the not working excel file that was output by numbers for what its worth.

I downloaded your Google file as Excel and it looks nothing like the Excel file you attached. My comments are related to the Excel file as I downloaded it.

In tab Calculator, cell B9, you have this formula

    Formula: copy to clipboard

I do not know why Google is happy with this but in Excel, you must use single quotes to enclose sheet names that include spaces. Use this formula instead:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Thanks Jeff. I pasted in your formula but im still having some trouble. i suspect Im still no referencing the data in the sheets right in the indirect.

I have attached the excel file with the formula in it but also a screen shot which might showcase my mistake just as easily. thanks again for your trouble

Your formula uses B4 to hold the name of the sheet containing the lookup table, but B4 is blank.

Like I said, this file is completely different than the one I get when I go to Google Docs and export it to Excel. That is the problem.

Jeff, Sorry I was working on another machine that did not have Excel but now I have managed to get to a computer with excel and I have edited the formula in

    'MOTHER - RESULTS'!A2

to reflect the changed cells from the Google File to the Excel File. It is I think in the sheet reference now that I'm having trouble currently.
    Thanks Jamie20%ContractRates.xls20%ContractRates.xls
