Specific cell Colours for Specific Days

Hello,

i am wondering how i would go about adding colours to cells for specific days (eg if day is monday make cell orange, if day is tuesday make cell blue ect.) i have been trying to play around with conditional formatting but have not found anything that works.

Maybe like this:

Assume you have date on A1, then
1. Set your cursor mouse on cell A1, and Click "Conditional Formatting" Tab, and select "New Rule"
2. And select "Use Formula to determine which cells to format" on "Select a Rule Type"
3. Input this formula for ie. "Monday" =TEXT($A$1;"dddd")="Monday", and choose color formatted as you like
4. Repeat this step for "Tuesday", Wednesday" and so on
