Count color cell background for each row

Hi all,

This I imagine this is very simple, but i have a spreadsheet of 200 rows, and using conditional formatting, I have highlighted certain cells a color green.

I would like to be able to sum count how many green cells are in each row, so I can sort them highest to lowest

For example, one row has color cells between D3 and J3, and i would like the total to appear in K3

There are 214 rows in total

If this a =sumif or a more complex function?

You cannot use regular formulas to count colors, however, you might be able to use the same rule you did for the CF, to do the count

you cannot count conditional format (or do anything with conditional formats)

you can only replicate the condition of the conditional format and sum based on that

This solution is not conditional format like OP uses
they would need to go and physically highlight cells in order to get the output to work

I modified the file ... i created some rows, but the formula counts all the background colors for all the rows, and not each row

Reading across, the first row would have a total for that one .. the next row would have it's own total

is there a way for the formula to apply to each row on its own?

You said you used CF to apply those colors? I can find no cells with FC in them. Regular formulas work on data, and cannot work of formatting - and color is a format, not data. If you applied the colors through regular formatting, VBA is probably your only option. If the color was applied through CF, we can probably put a formula together based on teh CF rule

Actually I am using Google Spreadsheets to conditional format it, it's coming in from a google form

I am then pasting it into Excel since that has better formulas
