    Conditional Formatting Question

    I hope I can explain what I want to do. All in all it's pretty simple. I want to change a cell based on another cell. In other words I want to produce a check mark next to a cell if the value of another cell is let's say 1, or anything for that matter. I just want to be able to produce a check mark by a cell based on the contents of a different cell. I have messed with conditional formatting and had some success but when it comes to producing a check mark, I am falling short.

    Any one have an idea or two?

    Conditional Formatting only relates to the cell(s) to which it is implemented... i.e. there is no next to a cell. If it is next to a cell, it is in another cell.

    The reason I say that is by your description there are three cells involved: a cell, the cell next to it where you want the check mark, and another cell on which the check mark appearing is based on.

    Can you provide an example to start with...

    Format the cell for the checkmark with wingdings font, 22pt. Enter this formula:

    where J1 is the cell holding the trigger value and 9 is the trigger value
