Last Signal Letter and its count display before `Check'

Hello Friends

Please refer the attched 2010 file <Last Signal and its count display before Check 040615.xlsx>.

I want to find and count the last signal letter before check and it should be plotted in light yellow cells.

=INDEX(C:C,MATCH("check",C:C,0)-1)

Not sure (yet) how to get the count you want though
